Recent diving trip to Vanuatu. Stayed at Hideaway Island.
Great place, completely chilled-out reef diving. Let me know if you want to see more pics.

Nice photos - did you get the G11 in the end?

The first one's a blue-lined surgeonfish and the last one is a pair of of christmas tree worms on some hard coral.

Not 100% sure about the middle photo; it's hard to tell pick out detail from that angle and colour is of minimal use for reef fish ID... but I reckon it's some sort of coral trout.

Rick.

Yes, G11 with the Canon housing. No issues with either. In fact the G11 is a perfect travel camera! Not too big but with a reasonable heft. Takes fantastic pics in all of the program modes and allows a huge amount of manual control. I loved the deep green and yellow colours you get in "sunset" or "foliage" scene modes.

BUT - I will have to invest in the additional underwater strobe. In many cases I was better off taking an underwater picture without any flash at all rather than relying on the built-in flash. Backscatter was a probvlem, as was weak flash and uneven lighting.

So.. almost makes me wonder what I will use my DSLR for ;-)

Second one is a cod as it has a rounded tail not a trout. From memory something like bird-wire cod??
Where are all the zoologists the club used to have?? I am too old to remember

I think this is correct:

We're working on temperate fishes, not these silly warm-water ones :)
